Optimization Of The User Experience A Blog, From The Technical Side And Human Interest

Note: Tulisan ini adalah terjemahan Basa Enggres bebas dari artikel ini

When I was about to start writing these articles, I had time to think: "Today will write about what else?"

For a moment, I had the intention to write the topic of business. But then I remembered that the subject of blogging had not been written much in this blog. Is not blogging topics also a part of this blog niche? (other than business). So finally I started writing articles about blogging topic.☺

By the way, frankly, I had a bit of trouble assembling the most appropriate title for this article. After many times trying to string the sentence, I finally managed to string up a title that reads: "Optimization of the user experience a blog, from the technical side and human interest."

Yup! Such is the result — a title that I get after going through the maximum effort I can do. Therefore, please give me a tolerance if that word is not matching in the title. Hehe ☺

The above title contains three-word sequences and includes important terms, namely:

1. Definition of user experience.

2. Optimization of the user experience from the technical side.

3. Optimization of the user experience from the human interest side.

Okay, we start the topic.

# 1. User Experience.

Definition user experience: the experience of a person's satisfaction when using a product, system or service. I will to each describe in more detail.

Starting from:

- User satisfaction with the product.

For example, we take the case of personal computing devices, laptops or smartphones. Well if a particular brand of each product can provide an excellent experience to each user, then surely that product will be recommended by each user to others. They will voluntarily suggest the product to relatives or friends.

Factors of user satisfaction on a product can occur because of its complete features. Or it could be because the quality is proven superior to other similar products.

For example on Nokia products (mobile phone) in its heyday first (period of the 2000s). At that time, this product is very famous because the body and the design are so very good, and the battery is also durable.

The Nokia cell phone is so strong, so there used to be an anecdote: "This Nokia phone is good for calling, and it's also good for throwing your girlfriend" (read: because she is cheating) ☺

- Definition of user satisfaction on a system.

If on the system, we can take an example like this:

In Indonesia, some people prefer to save or create an account at Citibank or Bank Central Asia (BCA) because the system and services are friendly/fast (this is just an example, not a promotion). ☺

- Definition of user satisfaction in the field of services.

Satisfaction in the field of this service we can take an example such as beauty salon, barbershop, up to the masseur. Users (read: the customers) will always be loyal to return to use their services if the service is still satisfactory.

Now I will explain the definition of user experience more specifically, ie., user experience on the site (website or blog).

Well, this user experience factor, I will pursue again into two parts. That is from the technical side and the human interest side.

Now I want to discuss the second part first, namely:

# 2. Optimizing the blog user experience from the technical side.

The word 'technical' has the definition: 'be' or 'about' (according to). So have an understanding of certain rules or requirements (on a method or process). Once practiced, the term will turn into a 'technique' (way).

So in the world of blogging, user experience optimization techniques can mean all sorts of efforts, ways or methods a blog to give the best user experience to each audience.

What are the techniques and ways to achieve the best user experience?

The technique is quite a lot, but I'll mention some of the most effective ways.

Some of them are:

- Quality content (articles).

The most crucial factor of user experience is quality content, complete, and content that 'can directly help' to solve reader problems.

Why is writing 'can directly help' above I give italics bold? Because the most needed a reader is the content of articles whose materials are realistic and can be directly practiced.

What are the characteristics of realistic content that?

I.e., is content (articles) whose content is based on facts or has been successfully practiced. So is not a material that contains only theory or discourse.

As a reinforcer, if necessary provide additional valid proof that what you have written has been successfully practiced, either by ourselves or others. The evidence can be photographs of your real efforts, or it could be a recommendation from others.

Content that has been successfully practiced will have a strong influence to help solve the problems of the readers. Because the audience has trusted in its content, it will undoubtedly make them more serious to apply/practice it. So, that article will become useful for them. This technique is the most I refer to all the items on my blog. Take a look at the contents of my blog articles, almost all related to my life and business. And everything is based on facts!

Well because the article that I write based on facts, thus making the readers is believe the contents. Has a result, so many of them then reshared to the other friends. So that fulfilled one of the most critical user experience factors on this blog :)

- Use simple, easy-to-understand language, and detailed explanations.

This is the next important part.

When writing articles, you should use simple language. And more importantly, the description and style of communication should be comfortable to read. Do not use terms, vocabulary, and writing that is too 'high' (academic). Unless your readers the target is from the academics, then you can use the language 'high' is.

Always is describe each section of the article sub-section in more detail, so readers will more easily understand the purpose of the contents of your article.

What happens when the content of your article is easy to digest, easy to understand, and the description is comfortable to read? So most likely the readers of your blog will re-visit your blog in the next time. They will bookmark your blog Url address or research your blog keywords to google search. And you've managed to get two plus points, namely user experience, and organic traffic!

Well? Inspiring, is not it? ☺

- The size of the letter should be easy to read, and the contents of the paragraph should not be too tight like a book.

This is one other important factor to optimize user experience.

Why is it important?

Here's the explanation:

Have you visited a blog whose font size are too small? Or the font type strange? Sometimes you have to focus to read it, even to frowned so that his writing can read well.

Well, the question is: is there any side of comfort when you read such writing?

It certainly will not be comfortable! And this is bad user experience.

Another important part is the paragraph density.

Why although paragraphs of a book are very tight, but will still be read by people? Because usually the book is already intended to be read by people.

Moreover, a book will not be easy to find other options in a short time. Even if you are in the bookstore though, not necessarily see another book with the same topic and content with you are reading.

While an article?

A reader can very easily find other articles (which contain the same topic) on google search in a short time. Not until 1 minute!

Therefore, when you write an article, do not make paragraphs that are too long and tight. What is the cause? Because the section is too long will make the reader's eyes easily tired.

The ideal size is 3 - 4 lines of the sentence or maximum write at most about 5 - 6 lines of sentences in a paragraph.

An example can be seen from the paragraphs in each of my articles. ☺

How? Looks more comfortable to read right? ☺

- Blog navigation is easy to navigate.

At some points above, is a user experience factor associated with the content (article). Well in the next section, I will explain the following user experience factor, namely in terms of blog navigation.

Blogs that have bad navigation can make visitors feel lazy to explore the contents of our blog. Even in certain conditions, can make them will never want to come again to our blog.

Therefore, make it a static page that contains sitemap, privacy policy, contact, about, and others. so that the visitors can easily to get information that is on your blog.

Bad navigation can also make visitors 'get lost' and cannot find specific articles or sections of your blog. Therefore try to make clear blog navigation.

- Never put a pop-up advertisement that is a very disturbing (because the ads cover the content).

This is another important thing, which significantly affects the user experience side of a blog.

I sometimes still find some blogs with pop up ads are the very disturbing comfort. When I was focused on reading the contents of his article, suddenly came 'uninvited guests' aka pop up advertisements that directly cover the material content.

Even more annoying, when I click the 'X' (closed) instead also redirect to the URL of that ad site.

So the 'X' button seems to be deliberate made to deceive the reader, when you click the 'X' mark instead of closed, but instead, it makes the ad open.

So if you press the close (X) button, it means the same you have clicked on the ads. It's very annoying. Hhhhhhhhh!

When experiencing the incident as above, then do not need to think long again, surely I will immediately leave that blog. Better to find other blogs on the same topic but no pop-up ads are very annoying.

So in conclusion, pop up ads are one of 'the most significant enemy factors' of user experience.

- Try to speed up loading your blog, do not let your blog loading slow, because it is also 'awful' for user experience.

Have you ever had experience when visiting a blog, loading time as if reminding you when opening a blog in the year 2008 -2010 ago? The loading time can reach 15 - 20 seconds. But in the year 2008 ago that, although slow loading, you will still be waiting because internet technology at that time is not as sophisticated at this time. And loading like this was commonplace at that time.

But now?

Even AMP technology can open the article with a blink of an eye. Wuuzzz! Immediately begin the piece. ☺

Well if loading your blog is still slow (takes time to wait until 10 -15 seconds to open), then be prepared to be abandoned by readers who immediately switch to another blog (which loading much faster).

So loading a slow blog also includes one of the 'most significant' enemy factors of user experience.

That is the above some crucial points (technically) that significantly affect the user experience of a blog.

Well, all the above user experience optimization techniques are essential, but actually, there is another optimization that is not less important, but I note, still rarely discussed in more depth by the bloggers.

What is another essential part that?

That is :

# 3. Optimization of user experience from the human interest side.

Ever when reading an article on a blog, you feel there is a part of the contents of the material that is not fully understood ?.

Then you ask through the comment field.

Not long after, a reply came out of the author who answered your question in complete and detailed. Because of the full explanation, it makes it easier for you to understand the contents of the article.

At other times, you go back to visit the same blog.

This time you requested the author's contact (to easier to contact him). Again, that author is ready to fulfill all your requests. If you ask again, then the author always answers it immediately.

Well, what experience is get from that author? Namely, he is very friendly and responsive!

So the relationships become strongly intertwined!

Will grow your sympathy to that author!

That is the optimization of user experience from the human interest side.

Well, have you ever thought (to be more intense) apply this human interest technique on your blog?

Human interest is the primary purpose and target is to focus more on good relations with the audience your blog.

And the results are amazing!

This technique is beneficial to capture the reader, even potent to make them a loyal reader!

Also, it will also make your follower increase faster!

Why your follower can increase quickly?

Because user experience optimization from the human interest side has a viral effect such as snowball or domino effect.

The snowball effect is something that starts moving from small but rolling with certainty until finally getting more prominent.

While the domino effect is like domino seeds are placed erect and arranged parallel to length, when the first domino is pushed, then the other dominoes move simultaneously.

What does it mean?

This means that your blog will be promoted through share and persuasively recommended by word of mouth by the loyal audience of your blog!

Well, that's about the illustration of the development of your blog.

If the blog audience has felt sympathetic to your figure as a writer, friend sharing, and place to be consulted, that's when you succeeded implemented optimization of user experience on your blog!

Hopefully, a long enough description in this article can be useful. And I also am hope, that success is always for you all.

If you feel this article is useful, then share it. Hopefully, it can be helpful for your other colleagues.

Best regards!
